Hammered Silver Pendant – Barker Brothers Silver Ltd, Birmingham 1956
This pendant was shaped from one half of an antique sterling silver sugar cube tong, originally made by Barker Brothers Silver Ltd in Birmingham, 1956. The opposite half became a floral repoussé pendant — this version celebrates contrast and restraint, leaving the silver’s natural character exposed.
The piece has been carefully hand-finished and lightly planished, giving the surface a subtle hammered texture that catches light with quiet rhythm. The original form of the tong remains visible in its gentle curvature and taper, allowing the silhouette to whisper its history while standing confidently as a modern, sculptural pendant.

Why It’s Special
Where its counterpart celebrates floral ornament, this pendant captures the opposite mood — calm, raw, and elemental. Together they reflect two expressions of silver: the decorative and the deliberate. This single piece stands beautifully alone, its minimal form bringing focus to the maker’s mark of time itself - faint, uneven, and undeniably human.

Reclaimed and hand-finished from antique silver; natural patina and light textural variation retained.
Dimensions
Length: 53 mm
Width: 28 mm
Weight: 4.6 g
Care Notes
Polish gently with a soft silver cloth. Avoid chemical dips to preserve the surface finish.
